(I wrote this in 1993 shortly after an amazing series of events that led up to finding my father. )
My only memory of my father was of him buying me a toy when I was five years old. He had come for a brief visit and then he stepped out of my life.
Growing up without a father I never knew what it meant to have one, and most of my life I felt I hadn't missed much. Sometime in junior high I happened upon Psalm 68:5. "A father to the fatherless...is God in his holy dweIling." Something clicked inside me and from then on I always prayed to "my Father." God planted a seed in my heart that was to blossom years later.
There is a Call from God going out to the Church today.
The call is to prayer - day & night - unceasing - standing in that place of intercession with Jesus, the great intercessor.
24 hours a day, 7 days a week
In the spirit of the Tabernacle of David, God is raising up those who are called to minister before Him day and night. The prophet Amos declared that in the Millennium God would raise up the fallen tabernacle of David in direct reference to Jesus' reign upon the earth. This tabernacle is the place where David established day and night worship and prayer. 1 Chronicles 9:13-33 is a description of the roles and people who were part of this 24 hour day & night ministry. We are called to be a part of the restoration of the prophetic worship and intercession that God is orchestrating around the globe in preparation for the return of Jesus.
When Jesus read Isaiah 61 and informed His hearers that He was the fulfillment of that scripture, He identified himself as the speaker whom Isaiah was quoting. Isaiah records the words of this speaker in chapter 61-63.
